Mary Azarian
| I chose Mary Azarian because of the color scheme and detail. Her marks are very tiny, detailed marks that through the use of color pop out. Her main concept focuses around a story book she had created, but used her printmaking skills to create it. The colors she uses contrast very well between dark and light. Another thing i enjoyed about her work is the strong borders she creates, sometimes is a gutter sometimes its not its a black thin strip, what makes it enjoyable is how it is purposeful because she has an old time story book style.

Aubrey Beardsley- inspired by Oscar Wilde and Japanese Woodcuts.
| I found Aubrey Beardsley through Mary Azarian, there was a separate tab and I was intrigued by "Japanese Woodcuts" because the Japanese culture interest me very much. As i look through her prints I found a better understanding of the border. I learned you can gutter it to have a clean cut and fully around gutter, or you can have a clean border, by having the concept on the inside continue on the outside. Another small detail I enjoyed was the way she does color prints. She does a mono-type of one color throughout to keep the concept and not draw attention away from the main subject. |

Each picture is planned out by which color goes where, or which color I want to use. I am continuing with my last concept because I enjoy the contrast i can bring out of it, and how I can manipulate the background easily, and making it more enjoyable. The first picture is my mono type drawing, of light and dark areas, and some cut marks between the spaces I want white. In the next three images I plan out each color, and which one each will be because if not and I try to go into it I will just guess at the colors, So I test them when I can. For my colors I have chosen between light cool colors, or dark warm colors. I chose these colors because i was influenced by Mary Azarian's color palette. Dark tones with really light colors, so the contrast is there.
